Discover the Many Benefits of Charitable Gift Annuities:

  • A charitable gift annuity with payments that start immediately is the most popular type of gift annuity. You make an irrevocable contribution to Special Olympics (our minimum is $10,000) and receive a fixed payment—at an attractive rate—for as long as you live, and you will receive a charitable income tax deduction.
  • Special Olympics gift annuities can be set up to benefit up to two people, making them an ideal way to provide financial security for a spouse or other loved one. If either beneficiary passes away, the surviving beneficiary will continue to receive the full annuity payment each year for life.
  • Many Special Olympics supporters have certificates of deposit and bank accounts that are paying less than 1% interest. Transform that low-yielding asset into an income-producing one by using it to create a charitable gift annuity.
  • You will receive an immediate income tax deduction in the year you make your gift. And if you are looking to reduce capital gains taxes, funding a gift annuity with stock or mutual funds is an especially smart decision. You avoid paying capital gains tax on a portion of the appreciation and the remaining tax will be spread over the years of your annuity payments instead of being due all at once. A portion of your annuity is taxed as ordinary income, a portion is taxed as capital gain and a portion may be tax-free.

I know I’m helping others when I support Special Olympics. And that makes me feel great! I actually have two Special Olympics CGAs, and I love them. I think of it as a gift that allows you to ‘have your cake and eat it too.’ When Special Olympics shared information about a charitable gift annuity, with a fixed rate of 8.7% based on my age, I was very happy.”
